Awarded Cards

Awarding of cards to players for attempting and/or completing tasks and challenges is intended to function like a badge/achievement system you see in many online/console gaming environments (often part of "levelling up") and in sports teams in relation to milestones, records and significant achievements.
It could also be used for Talent ID and Development over a longer period.
There is a chance this approach becomes an overly strong extrinsic motivator, which carries some risk in terms of stifling intrinsic motivation and enjoyment. It is recommended you keep a close eye on this and stay alert to any detrimental or unintended consequences for players and the way they (dis)engage.
To award a card, simply click/tap the 'award card' button below the card description when viewing a card in the deck. This will "flip" the card over to the back where you can select the players to be awarded the card and see the players who have previously been awarded the card ("Award History")...
In this view you can quickly create a new player if needed using the blue outline button towards the top right. You can also filter the player list by squad or team, which can be very useful.
If a card's task/challenge is a "team" one in nature, you can indicate this by selecting all the players in the team and then activating the "team award" slider just above the "Award Selected Players" button. Now when you or a player views their awarded cards, they will have a "my team" link which will show the other players that completed the task/challenge with them.
Remove a previously awarded card by clicking/tapping on the circular "undo" arrow icon to the far right of the players name under the "Award History" section....
As players can view their awarded cards in the app, it is important to make sure that when you award a card to a player it is not done so by mistake or based on a judgement that is later changed.
It can corrupt the whole approach to have a previously awarded card taken away when the player believes they legitimately earnt the card, or when they are awarded cards they know they shouldn't be receiving.
